Grace Community Church Weekend Recap

1 min read

Another wonderful weekend at Grace Community Church of Berea! I find it refreshing to gather with our church family each Sunday morning at 10:30 for family prayer and then at 11:00 as we worship together in song and hearing the Scriptures preached.

The Message this week at Grace Community

This weeks message focused on John 14:1-3 where Jesus said " “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. "

In the message two major points were highlighted. The first being that Heaven is meant to be a comfort for the believer in both life and death.

This is understood by examining the circumstances in which Jesus spoke the words of John 14. The disciples where dealing with troubling circumstances surrounding the impending crucifixion and the impact that would have on the disciples.

Yes a death was going to take place, the Lord Jesus would be put to death and that would directly impact the disciples. Where they afraid for their own lives? Possibly. But they were also troubled over the Lord's statement that He was going to leave them and where He was going they could not follow.

In other words He was preparing them for life to go on without his physical bodily presence. So His words of Heaven were meant to provide them with comfort in life and not just death.

The second major point is that Jesus is the real, true attractional power of Heaven. Jesus told the disciple that he was going to come again and take them unto himself.

Pay careful attention to what Jesus said. He did not say that He was coming again to take them to Heaven, He said that He was coming to take them unto Himself! He is the pull of heaven for the believer!
